The okapi's physique is similar to that of the giraffe, with a long tongue, small horns and large ears. However, the okapi is smaller, with a much shorter and thicker neck in proportion. With its long blue tongue, the okapi can pick leaves and buds from branches. The tongue is so long that the okapi can lick its own ears. The animal is only found in the wild in the rainforests of northeastern Congo-Kinshasa.
